Cartoonist David Farrar talks about his favourite cartoon characters and their importance to the world and the art world.
He explains why he thinks cartoons are important to art.
Farrars work draws on the art of the great masters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and the surrealist painters Marcel Duchamp and Vincent van Gogh.
Fardar says it was these artists who influenced him to create his cartoon art.
“I started drawing cartoons as a way of expressing myself,” he says.
“It’s just an expression of my feelings, and it has nothing to do with anything else.
I don’t think it’s an art form.
I just wanted to express myself.”
Farras work draws upon a love of drawing, an appreciation for the arts, and a love for the surrealism and surrealismism style of his favorite artists.
Furloughing his cartoon work, he is focusing on creating something more modern and engaging for himself.
“If I want to create something new, then I will create something that’s contemporary and fun to look at,” Farraris says.
He says he’s never wanted to create art that is only in the realm of art.
He feels art has always been a way for us to explore our emotions.
“When I was a kid, I loved all sorts of things,” FARRAR says.
His love for art began when he was a child, Farrarrar says.
FARRARS art has been featured in the New York Times, GQ, and other publications.

Fargar says the cartoons are not meant to be “big.”
“I like to be a little smaller than the average human being,” Fargars says, “so that’s how I feel about it.”
Fargary says he feels the cartoons should be used as a visual statement, and not just a means of expressing one’s emotions.
Farrelly says his cartoon has never been seen on television.
“There is no commercial interest in my work,” Farreily says.
The work is not intended to be political or political commentary.
